Benefit for Jola and Family

Most recent update 8/24 12:40 am

Tonight is the big night!

This page will be pretty dynamic as the content is is going to be shifting as more information comes in. Please check in often for the updates.

A member of the Back Alley family has had a horrible day and needs our help. Jola, Scott, and the two children (a  three year old girl and a one year old boy) lost their home to a fire yesterday.

I just got back from meeting Johnny and Heather at the bar as we sync up with Doug and Dawn. Still a great deal to work on, but here is the run down for the Back Alley’s events at this point:

Doug, Dawn, and the rest of the Back Alley staff hope that you can join us in support of this family as they struggle with getting back on their feet. The enormity of it and the outpouring of people’s heart makes me a bit misty. We really do have a great Back Alley family, regardless of which side of the bar that  you are standing on.

The Back Alley Bar & Grill has very graciously (love our bosses!) come forward with efforts to help.

Starting today (they open at 3:30 pm) they will be the official drop point for any donations.

  • This Saturday between 9 pm and 2  am (they have expanded the hours) the Back Alley will donate 10 % of their proceeds to Jola and her family.
  • They will also be having a karaoke fundraiser on Saturday August 24th and will again donate 10% of the proceeds from 9 pm to 2 am.
  • They have started a 50/50 drawing that will be drawn the night of Aug 24 during the karaoke benefit.
  • There is a new event in the mix now – Somebody is leaving the bar with VERY short hair. a #2 or #3 cut.

  • Jola is small, about a size two (we will seek the exact size for her and Scott)
  • Scott is about a 30×30 size jeans
  • Roxy is in 3T
  • Cycy, the one year old boy is in 12-18 months.

There has been a fund set up for them today at US Bank. If you would like to donate cash, you can go to any branch of US Bank. Just make the deposit to the name of: Jola and Family Relief Fund.

An online method of donating has also been set up for those that cannot get to the bar or a US Bank branch:

We have some requests for items:

  • Gas cards, it looks like the family will be moving to Skamania county until they can get a house/apartment in town.
  • Scott (adult) Pants 30×30, and a belt, shoes size men’s 9
  • Jola (adult) Pants size 7, shoes ladies size 9,
  • Roxy (3 year old girl) shoes, girls size 9, diapers size 6
  • Cy Cy (1 year old boy) diapers, size 5, sippy cups
  • Upcoming baby: Remember Jola is six months pregnant, they need pretty much everything for a baby girl except for a portable playpen, they just received one.

Okay, there are some things we need more details on:

It may be useful, if we can post stuff that has been donated to avoid the six stroller but no diapers situation.

Larger items that have been covered:

  • Portable playpen
  • High chair
  • Loveseat
  • Queen Bed
  • Dresser
  • Swinging cradle (very nice, thank you!)
  • Baby swings
  • kitchenette set
  • medium roll top desk
  • DVD player
  • TV
  • Kitchen table and chairs
  • couch
  • love seat
