Does “Love You Like A Love Song Baby” contain plagiarized bits?

So while I was listening to Pandora, I had a Selena Gomez song drop into the mix…

I figured that I would give it a listen.

Am I the only one that thinks that Selena Gomez’s Love You Like A Love Song Baby (written by Antonina Armato and Tim James) rips off Supertramp’s Logical Song in parts? The park that

the biggest spot is when she sings “You are magical, lyrical, beautiful” to the same tune as Roger Hodgson’s “A miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical.”

Here are the links to the songs so you can listen for yourselves.

I would like feedback so please let me know if you are hearing it as well.

It has been a busy day

Well we have been quite busy today.

Gigglez had to pull some overtime this morning, so she is grabbing a quick nap.
We had a baby shower to go to, which was actually on the same property that we needed to look at for our wedding.
After the shower we put down the deposit for the Luepke Center for our wedding and all ages reception.
Saturday November 3rd has been made official.
The officiant is working on the ceremony and it will likely be a blend of American Indian and Wiccan.

Now that we have a location, the real work can begin. I am assembling the guest lists.
The bachelor/bachelorette parties will be held on October 20th. They will be merged to a jack and jill party at the Back Alley for the second half of the evening. Who in their right mind wants to hold those the night before the wedding… silly kids just don’t know better.

While I am at the bar tonight for Tyger’s and my birthday party (we will be heading down at about 9) I will lock in the wedding date for the 21 and over reception.
More details as appropriate. . .

Adam Yauch (MCA) of the Beastie Boys

I am saddened to hear the passing of Adam Yauch.

One less Beastie Boy. . . Their Album Licensed to Ill was an anthem during my high school years.

“Now my name is M.C.A., I’ve got a license to kill
I think you know what time it is, it’s time to get ill
Now what do we have here, an outlaw and his beer
I run this land, you understand, I make myself clear.”

He will be missed, by many, as well as by me.

RIP Adam

420 – certainly a much celebrated topic

.

Before I start I want to take a moment to remember that this is the anniversary of the shooting at Columbine HS. God rest their souls.

April 20th, 4/20, 4:20… It has become such a strong cultural (perhaps just sub-cultural) reference.

putting four and twenty together often causes snickers from teens.

Can you think of good cannabis related songs? I am not looking for a collection of links to videos either.

I would much prefer the titles, maybe with the artist if you know it.

Here, I will start it off with a favorite of mine: The Devil Went To Jamaica. (I wish I knew it well enough to do that one at the bar, but with the regular lyrics on the screen just to hold the surprise.)

Rest in Peace Dick Clark

Rest in Peace Dick Clark

Thank you for all of those years helping to form music as we know it.

Thank you for helping bring News Years in with grand fashion and pleasure.

You have been a fixture in the television/music industry for so long.

Looking at the amount of work he has done, it is incredible.

I don’t even want to try to list all of his work.

My heart goes out to his friends and family.

It is a shame to see you go.

(I beat KATU to this story)

Mega-metal show tonight

Tonight at the Back Alley, we are having six majorly heavy metal bands play.

The cover is 5 dollars.

Also appearing (but not on stage) is the best bouncer in Vancouver. We don’t know if I am working  the door or near the stage.

Simon Says Die will be making a video tonight.

Tonight – Live Wire

If you like AC/DC, tonight at the Back Alley is my favorite AC/DC tribute band – Live Wire.

Yep, Griz will be jammin and living it up.

Five dollar cover charge and the band will take the stage between 9 and 9:30.

Crazy Train

If you like Ozzy Osbourne, there will be a tribute band playing at the Back Alley Bar and Grill on Friday night.

Bands and comedians do not happen often that the Back Alley so this is a bit of a special occasion. I hear this band is quite good and has captured Ozzy’s on stage presence and mannerisms well.

There is a $5.00 cover charge (something else that rarely happens at the back alley, unless you are a UFC fan.

I have been tasked to be there by 7:30. The band’s website ozzyband.com says that they are starting at 8:00pm.

We have a capacity of something around 179, so be there early to get a good seat… or any seat. 🙂
