Amnesty vs Path to Citizenship – We Cannot Afford Either

We have seen the fight between the politicians and the citizenry over the issue of illegals.

I am not going to with some wimp assed semantecs over illegal vs undocumented alien. Other than to call them what they are; aliens who are here illegally, hence the phrase.

So we have an estimated 11 million illegal aliens in the country.

I have said it before and I will say it again, I do not care what country they come from. I am not a racist… I just want them to arrive legally.

Before you even start with the whole stupid line of remarks about how white people were the first illegals let’s get this out of the way too.

Even the “Native Americans” (hereafter referred to as Indians (that is another topic)) came here from another continent.

There were no immigration laws until there was a government who saw need for them.

When the economy is strong, we tend to take a more lazaire faire attitude. If it isn’t posing us a direct financial impact we let it slide.

With our household finances, when times get tight we have to find ways to save (those who are smarter don’t feed the pig to begin with) money wherever we can.

Now the government on the other hand when faced with this doesn’t seem to notice the needs changing. They just keep spending and giving stuff away. Money that is not THEIRS to give. It is ours for them to look after. We have entrusted it to them.

11 millions people inside the country illegally; some just over stayed their visas, others came in illegally to begin with.

Our government has chosen to bring in people for high tech jobs with claims that we don;t have viable candidates locally. This year they are giving more visas than their are jobs for. Shit we even have high tech visas for ENTRY LEVEL positions… wait what?!? for every level? Isn’t the definition of entry level a position that a beginner can do?  Are they expecting us to believe that we don’t have some high school grads that cannot fill those jobs? Does’;t corporate America have a responsibility to have a pathway to employment? (well the phrase works for illegals right?) Why should business think that they can just decide that they hire experts only for every role. Sure you want experts… train them.

Unemployment has been bad, and devastating in the teen markets. They don’t need more hurdles thrown in their way.

Corporate America is wanting the moon, but only wanting to pay for a model rocket, or perhaps a stomp rocket. Corporate America feel that they should set the job requirements for college degrees for (seemingly) an job within their organizations. I am not knocking upper education, as it is a wonderful thing, but is it really required? Don’t you think that life education can count for something? I have over 30 certifications from Microsoft (and others) but they do not equal a college degree to an employer. can a brand new college graduate do all that I can? Sure after they have a long time in the field like I have. My experience truly includes blood, sweat and tears.

So since corporate America wants to push for the education, do they bolster the student loans? How about push for lower tuition and books? no, no no… that would make too much sense. They choose to grant in state tuition for criminals who slipped into this county in a variety of ways.  Now some kids, were dragged along as baggage… As a dear friend said (as best as I remember) if a dad steam a car and gives it to their teenager, does the teenager get to keep it? NO! It is still a stolen car.

Where else are illegals costing us?

Medical costs are debatable, but I think that if you are not supposed to be here, then we should not have to pay. If my license to drive has been suspended and I drive anyway, resulting in an my being rear ended who is at fault? Me, for being on the road in the first place.  The same principle applies doesn’t it?,

Aren’t we spending too much on translation services?

With all of these extra costs, they want to give green cards to everyone here that didn’t come the right way.

That just spits in the faces of all of those who did do the right thing in their path to become Americans.

We have a solid pathway to citizenship already.

If a person has a green card, I am quite happy to help with getting through the test, improving language skills, etc..

Would another amnesty help? Sure, those that can start working above the table, could start working towards a retirement. Politicians who were able to stand there and say that they helped the illegals get legal… sure they would be better off as long as the newly legal  made it worth their wile to cover the loss of those who opposed their actions.  Would farmers prosper? they would have to start doing things legally themselves.  They already should be… but we know the truth.

We cannot harbor criminals.

We cannot afford it

We cannot keep doing this.

We cannot.

      1. Really?

A government can exist "in exile".

And the Ukraine government didn't manage to preserve their border.

Government isn't so fixed. I see it like this – a school can have its principle, teachers, janitor etc. fired and replaced… the school itself still stands. The students still come back again.

Our current government was designed to avoid bloody upheaval by allowing bloodless transfers of power. But no design is perfect. Any design can stand some improvement… especially after 200 years.

        1. There are of course exceptions…
I would be fine with robotic machine gun turrets along the border.
The property owners need to be permitted to help defend our borders form the invasion as well.

    1. What on the surface seems disappointing (I haven't looked into it yet) is O meeting w/ the leaders of the 3 countries where the border children are fleeing, so as to return those children to those countries.

Isn't this a little like meeting w/Stalin and seeing how to send back those who were fleeing his purges?
